薛从伦，1958年生于四川，1978年考入西北师范大学美术系国画专业，毕业后在兰州大学艺术教研室从事教学和艺术创作，任讲师。1990年到深圳，为职业书画家。薛从伦先生山水画创作的历程，完全可以说明他在笔墨之中对于“所无”境界的探求。
自幼喜爱艺术，6岁时开始练字习画，参加过四川省少儿美术展览。曾在西北生活多年，艺术创作上逐步形成了鲜明的个性特征。
80年代末，他推出“西北风”个人画展，在国内巡回展出后，引起了美术界和社会上的极大关注。作品多次入选国内、国际大展，并连续几届参加在香港举办的“中国当代画坛精英作品展”，在东南亚地区巡回展出。
