关于《黄河十四走》
《黄河十四走》是一本以画家的文化考察笔记为线索的整个黄河流域民间艺术（美术）图集。它的重大意义在于作者在20世纪80年代14次率队考察黄河流域民间艺术所做的工作和取得的结果是前无古人的。随着时间的推移和社会的演进，仅仅十几年，他们记录下大量的黄河流域传承了几千年的优秀民间艺术形式今天已不复存在，绝大部分著名的老艺术家已经人亡艺死。我们今天在书里所看到的是一大批中华民族最优秀的传统民间艺术最后的绝响。
作者杨先让和杨阳是中央美院和清华美术学院的教授，他们认为黄河流域可以说是最富有中华民族文化艺术代表性的大区域、大文化圈。这里所产生的一切民间艺术活动又必然与这里的考古史、哲学史、古代史、民俗学、民族学、艺术史等多方面的学科，在内涵和根源上密切相连。考察黄河流域的民间艺术，很可能获得认识和打开中国其他地区民间艺术的一把钥匙。
