山东省蓬莱县人。自幼酷爱绘画，儿童时代的作品曾到三十几个国家展出，曾获世界儿童画比赛特等奖、一等奖。70年代王明明长期刻苦学习和创作，求教于吴作人、李苦禅、蒋兆和、刘凌仓、卢沉、周思聪等诸名家。打下坚实的绘画基础，国画、版画、连环画、作品多次参加国内大展并获奖。78年考入中央工艺美院未入学，同年调入北京画院从事专业创作。现为国家一级美术师、北京市美术系列高级职称评委会副主任、北京市人大代表、全国政协委员。
王明明近十几年来进行了大量的创作，作品题材广泛，创作有感而发。他力求通透传统，强调意趣，以文人画恬淡美与现代意识相融，以传统笔墨精神与生活深度相融，别具新风。代表作如《杜甫》、《招魂》、《卖炭翁》、《虔诚的信徒》、《苗乡三月》、《林泉高逸》等作品给人留下难忘印象。作品通过泼墨、泼色，工与写、动与静，用点、线、面肆意表现娴精的中国画笔墨，将人们带到梦幻而现实的境地之中。作品多次参加全国大型画展，引人注目、深得同行们的认同和赞许。王明明曾在新加坡、日本、香港、台湾、加拿大等地举办个展及讲学，影响颇大。
