（1885—1962），字敬庐，号赤石道人，出生于江苏溧阳。现代美术理论家、教育家。1907年考入南京两江优级师范学堂，1911年毕业后任教于浙江两级师范学堂，与李叔同分任图画手工课和图画音乐课。

姜丹书是中国现代艺术教育的重要实践者和开拓者，潘天寿、丰子恺、郑午昌等均出自其门下。与其说他为中国近现代美术教育作出了不可估量的贡献，不如说他用其自身的行为和气质给后人做了楷模和表率，堪称真正的言传身教。

姜丹书编撰的《美术史》，经教育部审定批准作为师范美术专业教材使用，1917年由商务印书馆出版，是我国近代美术史上第一本美术史论著。后又出版有《艺用解剖学》、《透视学》、《艺用解剖学三十八讲》等，都是国内最早且较好的艺术教育专著。

本次展览主要展出姜丹书30件书画作品及部分手稿、文献等，其中李叔同为姜丹书母亲撰写的《姜母强太夫人墓志铭》原碑及碑拓均为此次展览中的亮点。
