1978至1982年中央工艺美院毕业，1982至2000年中央工艺美院教师、副系主任、主任，2000至2002年美国微软研究院掌上电脑界面设计客座研究员，2002-2011年任清华大学美院副院长、信息艺术设计系主任，现任清华大学美院院长。清华大学艺术与科学研究中心常务副主任，博士生导师。?曾兼任中国教育部工业设计教学指导委员会副主任、中国科协全国委员、中国美术家协会工业设计艺术委员会副主任和中国工业设计协会副会长等职务。

2学术成果

鲁晓波教授在信息艺术设计相关领域的理论研究、艺术创作和设计实践等方面取得了显著成果。他在《装饰》、《文艺研究》、《美术观察》和《科技导报》等专业核心期刊发表学术论文几十篇，出版编著多部，如《数字图形界面设计》；多次在北京国际新媒体艺术展暨论坛、亚洲（日本）国际设计大会、国际艺术与科学作品展暨论坛、国际交互设计论坛和中国人机交互论坛等做主题学术报告；他的艺术设计作品曾多次入选全国美术作品展览，获中国工业设计金奖和国际艺术与科学作品展最高奖等奖项；他曾主持或参与了许多纵向、横向科研项目，其中包括“985”艺术与科学国家哲学社会科学研究基地项目和国家社会科学基金艺术学项目，以及中国铁路客运专线信息导识系统设计和2010年上海世博会湖南馆展示设计总体创意策划项目等，由鲁晓波教授主要负责的信息艺术设计系、艺术与科学研究中心与微软、诺基亚、IBM、宝洁、联想、美的等国内外知名研究机构和企业有着密切的产学研合作关系。
