陈汉民，上海人，中国平面设计泰斗。国际平面设计大师，工艺美术家，教育家，清华大学美术学院教授，美术家协会平面设计委员会主任，2008年奥运会会徽设计评委会主席。北京2008年第29届奥运会标志评委、奖牌设计评委；被誉为平面设计界的“泰山北斗"
1931年出生于上海，1950年入上海美术专科学校工商美术专业学习。1952年随实用美术专业(原工商美术专业)并入中央美术学院华东分院实用美术系学习。1953年并入中央美术学院实用美术系染织专业学习。1955年毕业留校，同年攻读研究生，师从徐振鹏、袁迈先生。
长期从事标徽图案的教学和研究工作。出版的著作有《安全标志》、《公路标志及路面标线标准》、《公共信息图形符号》等。发表的论文有《标志设计点滴谈》、《包装装潢设计的定位及文字设计》和《法国的橱窗》等。创作设计有中国农牧渔业部农业奖章、“五一”劳动奖章、全国职工教育先进教师奖章、国庆三十五周年纪念章等；华夏男用系列化妆品包装一套，获一九八六年全国小包装大奖赛荣誉奖；设计《民居图》邮票一套（十四枚）、首日封一套（四十枚，指导设计并绘制），日本一九八六年评为世界十佳邮票之一。
其作品还有：香港回归专用标志、中国人民银行标志、中国农业银行标志，中国工商银行标志，九七香港回归标志，重阳节标志等
个人详细设计经历
1959年参与中华人民共和国成立十周年国庆群众游行队伍总指挥部工作，担任美术设计。
1961年与本校染织系应届毕业生孙淑娣结婚。
1968年随学校到部队参加劳动，其间被派至师部、军部参加美术宣传工作，后期调至北京电影制片厂参加拍摄“样板戏”，担任美工。
1976年参与“毛泽东遗体水晶棺”设计工作。
1981年参与设计、制定公路交通标识现行国家标准。
1982年参与设计、制定劳动保护标识现行国家标准。
1983年参与设计、制定公共信息图形符号十五种现行国家标准。
1983年担任学院党委委员、学术委员会委员、装潢美术系主任。
1984年担任中国包装装潢设计刊授大学校长和《装潢设计》主编。
1984年担任第一届北京市人民政府专业顾问(从1984年至1992年连任五届)。
1985年担任全国医药包装设计评选委员会委员、全国首届优秀食品包装奖评委会副主任。
1987年被评为全国优秀包装工作者。
1988年设计中国人民银行行徽、中国工商银行行徽、中国农业银行行徽。
1989年被评为全国优秀教师、北京市优秀教师、轻工业部先进教师和中央工艺美术学院优秀教师。担任中国包装协会装潢设计委员会第三届常委、中国包装装潢展评委会主任。
1990年被评为全国优秀包装工作者。担任“亚洲之星”国内预选作品评委。
1991年享受国务院政府特殊津贴。获文化艺术事业突出贡献证书。
1992年受台湾海基会副董事长陈长文先生邀请赴台观光、考察。
1993年设计完成王府饭店标志、第七届全国运动会会徽。参加第四十三届世界乒乓球锦标赛会徽、吉祥物设计的评审工作。担任第四届全国包装装潢设计展评委会主任。秋季，赴德国参加“世界之星”包装设计颁奖大会。担任北京市普通高校优秀教学成果奖评委会学科评议组成员。
1994年担任全国工艺美术系列高级职务任职资格评审委员会委员。担任北京市市徽评选委员会委员。
1995年设计联合国第四次世界妇女大会宣传会标及中国人民银行纪念金币。
1996年设计北京电话号码升八位的推广标志。担任第八届全运会会徽、吉祥物评委会评委，国家电力公司标志设计评委会主任。
1997年设计97’香港回归专用标志。担任中国99’昆明世界园艺博览会会徽、吉祥物评委会副主任，中国消费者协会会徽评委会副主任，中国旅游年北京旅游纪念品设计大赛评委会委员。
1998年被评为全国优秀包装工作者。
1999年担任国庆群众游行总指挥部彩车艺术专家委员会主任。担任澳门回归招贴画评委会委员。
2000年被聘为清华大学美术学院教学督导。
2001年被聘为澳门设计师协会顾问。
2002年担任北京2008年奥运会标志评委。担任新华书店连锁店标识设计评委会副主任、中国之星“金手指奖”包装及标志设计大赛评委会首席评委。
2003年被评为清华大学教书育人先进教师、优秀共产党员。担任中国足球协会超级联赛标志、吉祥物评委会评委，“东方之星”包装印刷设计大赛作品评委会首席评委，中华人民共和国第十届运动会会徽设计评委会评委。担任“爱生命、信科学”抗击非典主题海报评委会主任，并指导出版海报作品集《永恒的微笑》。
从上世纪90年代开始担任中国包装技术协会设计委员会主任，其间参与指导编辑《中国设计年鉴》、主持各种评奖活动、到全国各地举办学术讲座等。
2003年被中国包协和中国包协设计委员会分别授予“中国包装事业杰出成就奖”和“中国平面设计事业终身成就奖”。担任中国美术家协会平面设计艺术委员会主任。参与全国美协第十届美术展览艺术设计展的评选工作。
2005年获台湾视觉设计高峰会议“一代设计”奖状。
2006年参与北京2008年奥运会组织委员会组织的奥运火炬、奖牌、体育图标、公共信息图形符号等评选工作，担任第六届城市运动会、第八届中国艺术节标志及吉祥物评审组组长、主任委员。
2007年担任北京2008年奥运会官方招贴画评审委员。设计中国工艺美术大师标志。担任“世界之星”推荐委员会组织的《包装之星》评审主任、北京2008年奥运会全国徽章设计大奖赛评审主任。
2008年为5.12汶川大地震设计海报三幅。
2009年在清华大学美术学院举办陈汉民从教50周年艺术设计作品展，并出版《视记50——陈汉民艺术设计作品集》
