刘明，湖北沙市人。擅长插图、连环画。1984年毕业于湖北美术学院版画专业，后任长江文艺出版社装帧设计、湖北美术出版社美术编辑，《美术文献》编辑部主任、副编审。

现为《美术文献》杂志主编、编审。作品有《金猴脱险》（儿童读物插图）获第七届全国美展铜奖，《小木匠学手艺》获信谊儿童图画书大奖等。出版有《聪明的刘小三》（连环画），《我是中国的孩子》(图画书第六集》等。
