樊文江，1926年12月生于上海市，教授。1954年毕业于中央美术学院实用美术系，分配至西安美术学院执教，与其他同志创建工艺美术系，退休前任该系系主任，硕士生导师。
曾任西安美术学院设计中心总设计师，陕西省国际展览集团总顾问，西安美术学院西美公司总顾问，中国广告协会学术委员会委员，中国包装协会设计委员会委员，全国高校设计学会理事，陕西省工艺美术协会理事长，陕西省及西安市工艺美术高级职称评委会主任，陕西省美术家协会常务理事，陕西国画院顾问。
三次担任人民大会堂陕西厅更新改造工程总体设计，陕西大厦（北京）装修设计总设计，参加历次省市国际经济洽谈会任总体设计或艺术顾问，香港陕西出口商品展览总体设计，担任省政府黄楼改造工程总体设计，陕西省国庆四十五周年北京游园活动总顾问，建国五十周年成就展陕西馆总设计，陕西省送香港回归礼品总设计，西安市市徽设计组组长，西安市丝绸旅游节彩车总体设计以及西安市少年宫、陕西科技馆、唐城宾馆等壁画总体设计。
樊文江1984、1992年两次获国家经委颁发的《全国优秀装潢工作者》称号。所编《工艺美术辞林》获全国出版系统“金牛奖”。1986年获全国科普美术一等奖。
出版有《装饰画》、《水粉画技法》、《科技图案》、《工艺美术辞林》（任主编）、《旅游大辞典.文化背景卷》（主编），发表有关装饰美术论文四十余篇。
