谢从荣，笔名从容，画室名岂止斋，能人物、花鸟、风景，尤擅墨竹。1944年生于福建霞浦。1967年以全优学业毕业于福建师大美术系，后从事美术教育工作12年，1982年至2004年在福建教育出版社工作，任美术主编、编审。
·从事装帧设计工作，作品曾参加中日装帧艺术联展、第三届至第六届全国书籍装帧设计艺术展、首届中国设计艺术大展。获国家新闻出版署、中国版协、中国美协颁发的一等奖、二等奖、铜奖、优秀作品奖等。编辑美术书法读物及图文读物多次获奖，2004年获国家最高奖中国图书奖。
·工作之余潜心中国画创作，作品颇具时代新意，运笔雄肆，气度非凡。入选第四届全国美展，编入国务院选辑的《建国二十五周年美术作品集》。参加各类全国性大型书画展，并选送加拿大、波兰、日本、韩国、香港、台湾等地展出，多次获大奖。《江苏画刊》、《福建画报》等刊物曾作个人专介。长篇论文及十余篇艺术研究文章发表于《朵云》等刊物。曾作农村绘图本教材二册，由联合国亚洲文化中心出版发行至亚太地区各国。作品被上海书画社、天津美术馆、亚运会组委会、福建省博物馆、冰心文学馆、观音阁碑林、扬州何园、安吉竹书画碑林等单位收藏。
