任焕斌，男，1958年2月生于吉林省通化市。1973年考入吉林省艺术学校美术系。1977年任职于吉林省历史博物馆。1979年考入中央工艺美术学院装饰艺术系。1983年任职于陕西人民出版社。1985年至今任职于西安美术学院，现为西安美术学院工艺系主任、教授、博士生导师。中国美术家协会会员、中国壁画学会理事、清华大学吴冠中艺术研究中心研究员、中国美术家协会工艺美术委员会委员、陕西美术家协会设计艺委会副主任。
本人在学术研究中多以社会实践与教学相结合为主，1999年参加北京“中华世纪坛”大型浮雕壁画的设计。2002年参加北京首都国际机场二号航站楼大型石雕壁画设计与制作。2010年参加西安地铁建设大型壁画设计与制作等工程。
编撰著作多部，其中有《插画创意技巧》《版式设计1000例》《黑白世界》及《装饰艺术设计》­等。
作品多次入选全国美展，其中2004年创作的《黑白世界》铜版画系列作品，荣获第十届全国美展铜奖。
