穆孝天(1919.5—1996.10)。回族，别名穆道湘，又名托喳戈。安徽定远人。擅长美术史论。1946年毕业于四川大学历史系，当年在上海暨南大学任助教。1948年至1949年在上海建华中学任教务主任。1950年调到安徽科学研究所从事历史研究。1979年调到安徽省博物馆工作。1987年被评为研究员。1988年被聘为安徽省第六届政协委员。历任上海国立暨南大学助教，上海建华中学教务主任，安徽省科学研究所历史研究室编辑。安徽博物馆研究部美术史论研究员。安徽省文史研究馆名誉馆员。《安徽文博》编委兼编辑部副主任、安徽博物馆学会副秘书长、中国书法家协会会员、中国美术家协会会员、安徽书法家协会常务理事，中国博物馆学会会员，香港东方文化中心书画研究部委员，安徽省博物馆学会副秘书长，安徽省造型艺术美学研究会会长、安徽省书法理论研究会名誉会长、安徽省文联名誉委员，安徽省文化艺术人才学会副会长、安徽省老文艺家协会副主席，青莲（李白）书画院顾问，深圳深华书画院顾问、东方国际书画研究会副会长等。他专长美术、文史研究，著述百余万字。先后发表《华佗的传说》、《安徽文房四宝》、《中国文房四宝》、《查士标》（清初画家）、《邓石如》、《邓石如书法篆刻艺术》、《梅清》、《邓石如资料研究》、《邓石如世界》、《崔白双喜图》（名画鉴赏丛书）等10部作品。书法作品参加安徽省历届书法展览及省级各系统书法展览，入选在贵州、山东、黑龙江及日本等地举办的书法展览，多次与日本书法家进行书艺交流。作品被收入《黄山诗百家书法精粹》《情融丹青》等书画集。多年致力于中国绘画、书法、篆刻和工艺美术史论的研究，出版《查士标》《梅清》《中国文房四宝》《邓石如》《邓石如研究资料》等，并有百余篇论文散见于国内报刊。其事迹载入了《中国美术家名人辞典》、《中国书法在辞典》、《中国美学辞典》、《中国少数民族专家学者词典》等30多部大辞典里。安徽美术出版社出版有《耕耘者:穆孝天》。
早期有青年时代诗文集《东方黎明了》。30余年来有：《中国文房四宝史》、《中国安徽文房四宝》、宋代画家研究《崔白》、《李公麟》、元代画家研究《黄公望》、明代画家研究《了云鹏》、清代书画家研究《查士标》、《梅清》、《黄山画派》、《虚谷和尚》、《邓石如书法篆刻艺术》等，并有与其夫人合着之《邓石如》、《邓石如世界》、《邓石如研究资料》，共15种，先后在京、沪、苏、皖、台湾、香港出版。论文300篇左右，分载京.沪.苏、皖、豫、滇、宁、港、台和曰本、美国报刊。其《文房四宝》专稿曾在日本东京大型月刊《书学》连载29期。近15年来，为百家以上书画专集和展览撰写序言。其新着《古今艺林丛谈》、《艺林精英》、《中国书法全集》百卷本《邓石如》都将陆续间世。讲学：先后在中国科技大学，中国科学院安徽分院、安徽大学、合肥工业大学、安徽教育学院、合吧联合大学，以及杭州、宁波、济南等地讲学，1993年冬，应邀在曰本东京国立学艺大学、京都国立教育大学讲学。书法创作与交流：擅各体书法，尤爱行草。经常参加国内、国际书展。90、92、93、94四年中，先后在台北、深圳合肥、日本东京举办书展，出版书法作品集。作品收入《国际现代书法集》、《中曰书法作品汇观》、《当代中国书法艺术大成》、《当代中曰书法家作品精鉴》、《94台北国际书法邀请展作品集》、《第二届中韩书画交流展作品集》等数十种专集，并为国内外博物馆、艺术馆、纪念馆所收藏。奖励与评价：曾分获国际一等奖、荣誉金奖、银奖和“世界华人艺术家”称号，以及1978-1985年安徽省社会科学优秀成果二等奖。由于在发展我国文化艺术上作出突出贡献，从1992年起，中华人民共和国国务院特颁给特殊津贴。其生平事迹、学术艺术成就已分载于50种《名人大辞典》和专集之中。另有数十篇评论其成就的文章分载于国内外一些报刊。有关资料陆续编入“天下名人馆”专柜珍藏。
