汤禄名(1804—1874)字乐民,武进(今江苏常州)人,寓金陵(今南京)。
《明月种树图》立轴,纸本,设色,纵168.5厘米,横86.5厘米。台北故宫博物院藏。
此图中一个文人把锄倚树而立,似种树疲累正在憩息。他仰头望向夜空,梅花枝头,云开雾散,一轮明月高挂天宇。图中以墨笔写梅干细枝、繁花密萼,用笔纵放。人物用线疏简,面部刻画生动传神,将人物怡然自得、愉悦安详的神情表现的栩栩如生。

扇页有自题:“伯符大兄大人雅正。汤禄名。”钤“乐民”半白半朱印。
图绘闺阁女子倚窗赏梅的小景。画家笔墨娴熟,线条婉转流畅,施墨有浓淡变化,设色以雅淡为宗,较好地表现出女子明媚秀雅的神态。女子细眉小眼、瓜子脸以及瘦体溜肩弱不禁风的体态,具有鲜明的时代特征,正是晚清时期仕女画的典型风貌。
