洪世清是我国卓著的艺术家，一生擅长中国画、金石、版画、雕刻、水粉、摄影等艺术，所涉领域，无不精湛，为我国美术界的传奇人物。1995年鉴于他在筹建中央美院华东分院（现中国美院）版画系的贡献，被评为杭州市教育先进工作者；1984年因其在我国文化艺术上的特殊成就，享受国务院专家特殊津贴；1996年被授予全国鲁迅版画奖；1997年获浙江省鲁迅文学奖。
　　洪世清1929年生于福建晋江安海。1947年就学于上海美术专科学校，1954年毕业于中国美院的前身——中央美术学院华东分院，并留校任教。
　　洪世清先生执教后，即参与了该院版画系的草创。在十分困难的条件下，致力于铜版和石版画材料、技法与教学的研究。并撰写出版了《铜版画技法研究》、《石版画技法研究》、《版画技法谈》等新中国最早的一批版画专著，为我国的铜版画、石版画研究和教学事业的创建和发展，做出了重要贡献，产生了广泛影响。他是新中国铜版和石版画研究与教学的重要奠基者与开拓者。
　　洪世清的一生，穷其智慧与心血，刻苦钻研，投身于艺术事业。除版画外，广涉篆刻、中国画、摄影、水粉画和雕刻等众多领域，且均取得杰出建树，成就卓著。他是我国美术界20世纪中唯一先后得到齐白石、黄宾虹、刘海粟、潘天寿等四位匠师亲传身授的入室弟子。潘天寿赞其中国画为：“画事以得墨韵神情为难，世清老弟于此独有会心，可佩，可佩。”日本有关方面曾邀请他赴日，交流指画艺术。其水粉画作品曾赴美国、加拿大、波兰、瑞士、日本、新加坡、菲律宾诸国展出并多次获奖。罗马尼亚油画家埃·乌琴博巴称其：“不愧为潘天寿后又一位天才。”
　　洪世清于1985年后，不惧体迈，历经十余载，在浙江玉环荒无人烟的大鹿岛和福建崇武漫漫无际的海滩上，开凿大型摩崖与系列岩雕作品群。以圆雕、浮雕与线刻等综合技艺而凿就的大量岩雕石刻，取法秦汉雄风，以追求自然美、残缺美的审美情操，不取工细形似，但求古拙神韵，采用夸张、变形、大写意的浪漫手法，顺势布局，因石赋形，依海而凿，略施斤斧，极显粗犷浑厚、苍莽奇崛之势，成了我国石刻艺术的力作。
　　岩雕是他自篆刻艺术始，集五十余年追研艺术心得之大成；更是他苦其心志，劳其筋骨，饿其体肤，空乏其身之后的精神结晶。他的艺术成就震惊海内外，被刘海粟评为“不朽之大地艺术”，是“永世不朽的杰作”。
