李鱓自幼喜爱绘画,十六岁时已经颇有名气。后召为宫廷画师。他早年曾从同乡魏凌苍学画山水,继承黄公望一路,供奉内廷时曾随蒋廷锡学画,画风工致。后宗法指画大师高其佩,崇尚写意。又研习石涛笔法,以破笔泼墨作画,画风为之大变,形成“水墨融成奇趣”的独特风格。Li Chuan loved painting since childhood, and was quite famous when he was sixteen years old. He was called a court painter. In his early years, he painted landscapes from his fellow countryman Wei Lingcang, inherited Huang Gongwang's journey, and followed Jiang Tingxi's style when he offered sacrifices to the Neiting court. The later patriarchal clan refers to Gao Qipei, a master of painting, who advocates freehand brushwork. He also studied Shi Tao's brushwork, splashed ink with broken brushes and painted with great changes in style, forming a unique style of "ink and wash melting into strange interest".
