毕业于解放军艺术学院美术系。中国美术家协会会员、中国工笔画协会会员、邯郸市美术家协会常务理事、新加坡中国画院副院长。多次参加国家、省（市）和部队重大工程艺术创作项目，发表学术论文数篇，其作品和业绩先后在《美术》、《美术时空》、《国画家》等国家专业核心刊物发表和介绍。多幅作品被中国美协、中国美术馆、军事博物馆、国防大学、北京八一大楼等机构收藏。
2000年，举办军旅青年画家郭红星作品展；
2007年，《天籁》入选第三届全国中国画展（中国美协主办）；
2008年，《晴雪》入选全国第七届工笔画大展（中国美协主办）；
2010年，《清风》入选全国首届现代工笔画大展（中国美协主办），《和风》入选第六届中国西部大地情中国画展（中国美协主办）；
