受业于中央美术学院国画系。院校高级访问学者、美协会员、教授、评委。
作品十几次获金奖、特金奖、银奖等。先后在水墨、荣宝斋、美术、中国收藏、中华收藏家报、国画家等专业杂志专刊报道。人民日报社出版《吴东安画集》、《中国当代实力派画家吴东安画集》等。
多次为人民大会堂、中南海、军委、国家机关绘制大幅作品。中央电视台及电台专题报道。近年先后在日本、韩国、北京、青州等地举办联展或个人画展。被中华人民共和国文化部、中国书画家组委会授予书画艺术家及二十一世纪德艺双馨功勋艺术家称号。并被聘为中国画评委。
