本名陈国昭，男，学者，画家。1942年2月出生，广东省阳江人，1964年毕业于上海戏剧学院，1981年毕业于中国艺术研究院研究生部，获硕士学位。现任中国艺术研究院美术研究所研究员、学术委员会委员、理论研究室主任，教授，博士生导师。1992年被中央文化部评为有突出贡献的优秀专家，1993年享受国务院颁发的特殊津贴。1998年当选为全国政协委员和北京市政协委员，文化部高级职称评委。中国美术协会会员，中国美术家协会理论委员会委员，侧重人体艺术的研究与创作，作表作《裸体艺术论》为我国第一部有关的学术专著，有关学者对专著予以高度肯定与赞扬，认为是具有“填补空白“，开拓领域的里程碑意义的研究成果，在中国现代美术史及至文化史上都具有特殊意义。在国内外产生较大影响。荣获优秀科研成果奖，全国图书金钥匙奖和1988年十本优秀畅销书奖等几项大奖，主要著作还有《人体美》．《维纳斯面面观》．《他与她》．等十余部，被誉为该领域的权威学者。美术创作风格隽永，大气，富于学者风范，体现出深厚的文化底蕴。多次参加全国性及国际性展览出作评委，并举办过三次个人展览。代表有油画《火祭》．中国画《长恨歌》书法《微雨田桑》等。出版画集有有关研究者所编《陈醉论裸体，画裸体及其他》和《裸体的艺术与艺术的裸体：关于裸体艺术研究开拓者陈醉》。
