马保林、1942年生，祖籍河南滑县。1959年入陕西美协国画研究室学习，师从长安画派著名画家方济众、何海霞、康师尧等学习中国画。并得到赵望云、石鲁大师的指教。后长期随方济众先生学画，是方先生入室弟子。
四十多年来，在中国画的创作中始终坚持深入生活、继承传统、不断创新、以工入画、工写兼备，作品酣畅奔放、气势宏大、水墨淋漓、画风清新、艳而不俗、体裁广泛、形式多样。坚实的绘画基础，深厚的中国画传统功力，又融西画、版画于一炉，特别在花卉枝干表现上追求立体视觉效果，形成了独特的艺术风格，得到普遍认可。曾先后在陕西美术馆、广州中国首届艺术博览会、北京、汕头、天水、潍坊、青岛、台湾、吐鲁番、大连等地举办画展二十多次，数百幅作品被多家出版社出版发行，并在国内外大展中获奖，部分作品被中南海、毛主席纪念堂及国外专业机构和收藏家收藏。作品入编《纪奖长安画派创立四十周年书画作品集》、《两岸著名书画家作品集》、《当代牡丹画精品集》等。传略收集在《中国当代国画家辞典》、《中国美术家》、《世界名人录》等十余部词书中。巳出版有《马保林画集》、《马保林画选》、《马保林国画选》等。1995年代表陕西省政府出访日本举办画展和艺术交流活动、受到日方高度评价。
马保林现为中国美协会员，陕西美协理事，中国航空美协主席，西北航空美协主席，西北书画研究院副院长，国家高级美术师。
