 Xiao Gu, born in Shanghai in 1958, graduated from the Department of Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University. He is currently the dean of Shanghai Oil Painting Sculpture Institute, the first-class national artist, the director of Shanghai Artists Association, the member of China Artists Association, the part-time professor of Shanghai Normal University School of Fine Arts, the part-time researcher of Xinjiang Kizil Grottoes Research Institute, and Shanghai Qing. Director-General of the Fine Arts Professional Committee in 2001.
