原名昌世军，湖南益阳人。湖南长沙理工大学设计学院毕业，中国艺术研究院研究生院访问学者，清华美院现代中国画高研班结业。现为中国美术家协会会员，湖南省工笔画学会副会长，湖南省沅江市政协常委，中国人民大学林凡工作室特聘教授，中国现代工笔画学院特聘教授，长沙理工大学客座教授。
1984年毕业于湖南省轻工业专科学校工艺绘画系，早年学习西洋画。
1983年(晨雾)参加北京中国工笔画联展。
1987年(山省)在深圳举办的湖南工笔画展展出。
1988年(丝绸之路)参加香港现代中国画精品展。
1989年(夜游图)参加香港现代中画画家作品欣赏展并编入画册。
1991年(香娃)(山溪)参加台湾中画艺苑举办的中国名作品展，并编入画册。(秋光)参加新竹文化中心举办湖南工笔画精品展。
1993年于新竹市圆座艺术中心举办花鸟画个展。
1994年作品参加第八届全国美展入选。
1996年作品参加湖南工笔画至北京展出。
10月于圆座艺术中心举办花鸟画个展。
1998年联合国应邀至美国纽约展出。
1996年在台湾举办“大山中的花鸟”石君作品展，出版《石君作品集》。
1997年在美国纽约国际艺术博物馆举办个人画展，作品《幽兰》、《映日》由德国国际出版公司全球限量印刷发行。
1998年《瑞雪》参加在美国芝加哥维斯康辛州举办的“艺术鸟”世界大赛、荣获大奖，幷应邀赴美参加颁奖大会。
2007年《喜舞千枝》参加第二届中国齐白石国际艺术节――首届“齐白石奖”中国画作品展，荣获金奖。
2007年《山高水长》参加2007年全国中国画作品展，荣获优秀奖（最高奖）。
2008年《空中花园》参加首届中国画线描艺术展，荣获优秀奖（最高奖）。
2008年《雾里看花》参加第七届全国工笔画大展，荣获一等奖。
2009年《竹影摇风》参加北京工笔重彩画会举办的“微观与精致”全国重彩画展，荣获丹青奖。（最高奖）
2009年《和谐的家园》参加第十一届全国美展，荣获银奖，并为中国美术馆收藏。
2012年《守望家园》参加东方彩韵中日建交40周年中国工笔画＼日本画当代精品大展，荣获铜奖。
2012年《十五的月亮》参加纪念建军85周年暨十二届全军美展荣获优秀奖（最高奖）。
