张乃仁，男，1944年05月出生，北京理工大学设计艺术学院教授，博士生导师。
张乃仁教授的学科为机械设计及理论，研究方向为工业设计、设计艺术学；张教授毕业于中央工艺美术学院（现清华大学美术学院）曾在日本大阪设计研究所研修（1985~1986）和日本千叶工业大学做访问学者（1992）。从1973年起一直在院校从事设计基础教学，参加多项企业产品设计开发。主要出版物有：《设计辞典》主编及主撰，《外国服饰艺术史》编译，1992年起在国内外报刊发表过与设计有关十余篇论文和文章，主要承项目有：《老年人生活形态与日常生活用品设计研究》（北京市科委项目）。
张先生书画兼工，善写行楷，喜画白描，独特的思想修为让其书法自成一体，字里行间让人心静思阔，其字体被相关权威机构定名为“张乃仁行楷体”。
作为国内工业设计界的领军人物之一，张先生主持编撰的《设计词典》是中国设计界的权威工具。非凡悟性上加名师指引，令其在设计领域成就斐然，但作品意境多显现出冲淡。
在研习书画、教书育人的同时，张先生对古典家具情有独钟。他对明式古典家具的研究、品鉴涉猎广泛，由于对中国明式古典家具领域的潜心研究，使他成为中国明式古典家具领域内的权威。但他从不在别人面前卖弄、炫耀自己在这一领域的渊博学识。
张先生对中式领夹和帽子的收藏也很“狂热”，这一点人们可以从他的藏品中体会其品位和素养。

在谈到古典家具文化时，张先生说：“木作文化是我国传统文化的重要组成部分。古典家具特别是明式家具是我国的国粹，需要今人去研究、继承、发扬光大。这方面，中华木工委为木作文化的传承和发展做了大量切实、富有成效的工作。”
