1943年生于昭通市，1966年毕业于云南艺术学院油画专业，在景洪文化馆，昭通地区群艺馆工作11年、当过兵。82-84年就读于中央美院壁画研修班，以后调青岛纺织工学院工艺系任教。88年调回昆明，云南国际技术促进公司工作，93年内退为职业画家，2003年到上海成立工作室，2006年回昆明。
3月17日上午，著名油画家陈雄勋先生应邀到美术学院，为师生作油画人像写生讲座。陈雄勋先生在讲座中，就油画的风格及油画在世界各地的发展历史作了精彩的讲解，并鼓励师生在学习的过程中要学会思考、学会观察，做到多想多画多学习。他还为师生现场作画，一边作画一边解说作画步骤和他在作画过程中的想法。
